What Hold Does David Beckham Have Over Capello?

Capello keeps Beckham in the England team when clearly he is not good enough and then he engineers him a move to Milan.
Does anyone else think this is odd behaviour, above and beyond the call of an England manager?

  1. Capello and Beckham have a long history at Real Madrid. Perhaps Capello owes Beckham a debt of gratitude following Beckham helping Real Madrid to win the La Liga. In the process, Capello avoided embarrassments of sorts.
Somewhere in between, Beckham must have given Capello some love potion.

  2. I don’t think it’s odd…i would think it odd if Beckham was in his twenties and hadn’t done much, but Becks is 33, been around for quite awhile and has done quite a bit in that time. I think its just a case of two grown men helping one another out. Its like asking your boss or professor for a good reference.
He’s good enough to be a sub. Plus Capello likes his leadership…Beckham can communicate with everyone on that team, they all know him and they all get along with him. Its like having a player coach…even if you don’t play the guy, he’s still valuable for that reason alone. And for obvious reasons: he’s the only player on that team that Capello has had any previous experience with.

  3. Beckham needs to be involed in the england squad
he has vast experience over a 100 caps for his country & captain the team for a long time
but also he is needed for sponsership dollars and he still knows how to hit a ball
as long as he is used of the bench

  5. I think Beckham is a great role model and a great proffesional, and has invaluable experience, and determination that younger players can learn form.
Oh and he’s worth a few bob to the FA as well
